Programs

Infants

(8 weeks to 12 months)

The Bearly Tawl infant center provides all the comfort and care of a home environment for your infant. It contains separate sleeping, eating and play areas specifically designed for infants as young as eight weeks old.

Daily Activities

Our infant facility is structured so your baby’s individual needs are met. The separate areas allow infants who are ready for a nap to sleep while allowing those who are not to play without disturbing those who are at rest. We provide a variety of developmentally appropriate toys and equipment for each age and stage of development. Infants are given the tools and oversight they require to develop fine and gross motor skills and achieve appropriate cognitive, emotional and social growth. They also enjoy outside fresh air time on our 400 square foot infant deck.

Eating

Infants who are using a bottle are fed according to their individual schedule. They are held and fed until they have learned how to hold their bottle on their own.

Older infants who are able to sit up unassisted eat at a specially designed table as a group. Those who are able to eat table food (approximately one year old) are provided with a hot finger food lunch. At an age-appropriate pace, we encourage them to learn how to feed themselves.

What We Provide

We provide food (at approximately one year old). Parents provide all formula and baby food. We provide diapers, wipes, blankets and bedding. Infants do not share blankets or bedding, and these are washed on a weekly basis or more if needed. Our infant facility is sanitized and cleaned on a daily basis.

Infant/Supervisor Ratio

The ratio in our infant facility is 5 to 1. Infant supervisors are CPR and First Aid Certified.

Wobblers

(12 months to 18 months)

Our Wobbler Room is the next step after the infant facility, thus the name "wobblers.” These children are no longer infants and are on their way into toddler-hood. Ages in the wobbler room start at about one year old (and walking) through approximately 18 months. Ages here vary based on a child's mobility and readiness to advance. Reports on your child's day and progress are sent home each day.

Daily Activities

Children in this room are exposed to art-making in the form of coloring with crayons and painting. They listen to and make music with musical toys. They also enjoy a quiet story time with their teacher. We provide dramatic play toys. Wobblers also have regular outside time where they utilize a variety of toys and equipment to improve their motor skills. Wobblers have a separate play area outside. Toys are washed on a regular basis.

Eating

We provide a nutritious breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon snack. Wobblers eat as a group in the dining area. We serve a variety of foods that have been "kid tested" and "kid approved.”

Reports on your child's day and progress are sent home at the end of each day.

Preschool

(2 ½ years to 6 years)

Our Preschool Program (Pre-K) is the last stop before the children move on to kindergarten. Ages in this room start at about 2-1/2 years old up to age 5 or 6. The goal in this program is to provide learning opportunities that are developmentally appropriate for each individual child while preparing them for kindergarten. This program is structured to provide activities that promote social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language development. Furthermore, we use Creative Curriculum assessments to identify strengths and next steps for each child.

Daily Activities

Children in this room continue to develop their skills in making art, using different mediums such as clay, finger paint, crayons, markers, glue and paste, and more. They are avid music makers and love to sing and dance. They continue to learn songs, rhymes, and games. We teach concepts, such as over/under, near/far and more/less. We help chlldren with phonics so that they will have a jump start on learning to read in kindergarten. Children learn about currency, as well as advanced shape recognition. Daily circle time encourages the exchange of thoughts and ideas and also helps to continue developing listening skills, cooperation skills and sharing.

We believe that reading is a fundamental necessity to learning and life, and we encourange Pre-K children to read daily. We have a wide variety of books from which they may choose. Each morning, children recite “The Pledge of Allegiance.” We provide a dramatic play area to encourage role-playing and social interaction. This area includes a selection of dress up clothes for the children to choose from. Other unique learning areas include a science station and a computer station. Children also spend time outside on a regular basis where they utilize a variety of equipment to improve their motor skills. Pre-K children have a separate playground.

The sharing child has an opportunity to talk about each item during circle time. The share bucket is a great way to learn about sharing and also promotes confidence and self-esteem in a healthy way as children talk about their items and receive positive feedback from classmates.

Classroom Jobs. Each student has jobs that rotate weekly, such as lunch helper, snack helper, line leader, etc. The expectations of each job are taught to the children who perform them. This promotes independence and self-esteem. Chilldren love doing their jobs!
